Beautifully written, you have a talent with words and writing. I live in a very small town with one clothing store, (bealls) it's almost all polyester clothing. So online or thrifting in closer bigger towns is where I get my clothes. I only buy linen, cotton and sometimes wool, my closet is filled with less clothes now days but they are quality clothes now and they have lasted me years. Less really is more. I thank the Lord for you and your wisdom and love for Him.

Love all scriptures woven through your thoughts about sourcing clothing. I have been trying to look for mostly natural fibers for any new purchases I need to make for our clothing. It is a slow process to remove all the synthetics, but rushing off and buying a ton of new and expensive stuff isn't good stewardship (and my desires to do that is usually fuled by marketing ads and sales).

I also try and shop FB marketplace, ThredUp and theft stores... but recently I found a "cotton" sweater in a green color that looks great on me for $5. Well I picked up that sweater and could immediately tell my the feel that is was acrylic. 😑 It didnt have a tag on it anyways, so thr seller was probably ignorant. I decided to keep it for a while, and enjoy the color and cut that looks good on me, eventually replacing it down the road. I could have been really discouraged and mad, but I didn't let that get to me. I will enjoy the sweater now and ask more questions before I buy something on the internet again

The fibers in clothing have cellular conductivity and linen and wool are of the highest compatibility with human bodies. I found the quotes from scripture very interesting as they align with this.

About 5 years ago I made a firm decision to base my clothing choices for myself and my family off of health and quality alone. The cost of good quality far outweighs the cost to the health of our physical selves and the greater body- the earth.

God blessed me with 4 boys and if I carefully select pieces for him that will last through our homeschooling days outdoors in harsh elements, they can and will last through each brother.

I buy detergent in bulk- it is very mild, and I rinse our clothes in vinegar to keep them soft and odor free.

I tend to place more value on design and functionality than on the aesthetics of clothes but we all enjoy an interesting pattern or weaving here and there- especially if it's handmade.

Thanks for sharing this topic!

I spent college days showering racks at Forever 21 and I used to prioritize quantity over quality! It can be a fun and rewarding challenge to prioritize healthy living 💛
